Scary Art Auction to Benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Avalon Town is hosting it’s annual Halloween Charity Art Auction on The Labyrinth Sim, this year to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This year’s theme was “scary art” and artists from across Second Life rose to the challenge and unleashed their spooky skills to contribute art for the cause.

The auction features works from Scottius Polke, Eliza Wierwight, Fuschia Nightfire, Stephen Venkman, Alexx Fenstalker, PJ Trenton, Rowan Derryth, Fiona Leitner, Texanna Schumann, Tricia Aferdita, Sledge Roffo and more…

The Halloween Party and the final two hours of the Auction will be Friday, October 28th at 7pm SLT in The Labyrinth Dungeon in Avalon Town, Second Life.

About Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

About the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. They fund more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

They are a nonprofit donor-supported organization dedicated to attacking cystic fibrosis from every angle. Their focus is to support the development of new drugs to fight the disease, improve the quality of life for those with CF, and ultimately to find a cure.

The Foundation’s drug development model has been recognized by Harvard Business School and by publications such as Forbes, The New Yorker, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation funds and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of the most efficient organizations of its kind and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance.
